Welshpool based variable frequency drive manufacturer, Invertek Drives, is delighted to announce that it was named as the overall ‘winner of winners’ in the Welsh Business Awards, which took place at the Vale Resort last Thursday.

Invertek Drives was named ‘Welsh Company of the Year’ following an earlier win in the ‘Experienced International Business’ category.

Sales Manager Tony Cox, who represented Invertek Drives at the awards, says, “We were really pleased to win the category we’d entered, so when the announcement was made that we’d also won the overall Welsh Company of the Year title we were thrilled!”

The awards, organised by South Wales Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by the University of South Wales, are designed to recognise ‘the successes and achievements of Welsh businesses.’

Graham Morgan, director of the South Wales Chamber of Commerce, said: “All of the winners, including Invertek, have demonstrated sustained progress during 2014 in what has remained a challenging trading period for the business community at large. The standard of entries was among the best we have seen since the Awards were first launched.” 

Invertek designs, manufactures and markets a range of compact, easy to use AC variable speed drives which are used to control electric motors in industrial automation applications around the World.

First established in 1998, Invertek now sells its products in to more than 80 countries and employs more than 170 people worldwide, including 153 at its Welsh Headquarters.  

Sales and Marketing Director, Rhydian Welson, comments, “We are extremely proud to be a ‘Welsh success’ story. The business has worked incredibly hard to get to where it is today and we have ambitious plans for further expansion based on a number of global opportunities.
