INVERTEK DRIVES UNVEILS NEW COOLVERT FRAME SIZE AND ENHANCED SAFETY FEATURES AT CHILLVENTA 2024

Optidrive Coolvert

Nuremberg, Germany – 8 October 2024

Invertek Drives, a global leader in variable frequency drive (VFD) technology, has announced the launch of its new Frame Size 5 Optidrive Coolvert at Chillventa 2024 (Hall4, Stand 4-270), designed specifically for refrigeration systems, including BLDC compressors, condensing units, chiller units and heat pumps.

The expansion of the Coolvert range, which includes Frame Sizes 2,3,4, and now 5, brings enhanced capabilities to larger scroll compressors used in demanding industrial and commercial applications. In addition, Invertek is announcing new safety features across the Coolvert range to meet the latest industry standards.

Optidrive Coolvert provides OEMs with a high-performance, compact solution to optimise system efficiency and meet stringent regulations.

Key Highlights include:

 Expanded power range

Meets the demands of high-capacity scroll compressor applications, offering 400V 3-phase output currents up to 75A.

Compact design

Maintains the Coolvert series' commitment to minimising panel space and reducing overall system costs, even at higher power levels.

Simplified installation

Ensures quick and easy setup, typically less than 15 minutes with the appropriate compressor data sheets.

Enhanced Safety Features

Approved and certified by an external body to IEC 60730: Frame Sizes 3, 4, and 5, and Frame Size 2 will follow shortly. This includes Class B software for "locked rotor protection," overcurrent, and input/output phase loss, ensuring enhanced safety and reliability.

Extended five year warranty

Invertek has recently announced an extended five year warranty.

Mike Carman, Executive Business Development Manager, HVAC-R at Invertek Drives, said: "Coolvert has been designed to meet the diverse needs of the HVAC-R sector. From heat pumps and condensing units to chillers and specialised applications like medical equipment and data centres.

“The launch of Frame Size 5 and the enhanced safety features across the Coolvert range demonstrate our commitment to providing the HVAC-R industry with the most advanced and reliable VFD solutions. These new developments further demonstrate Coolvert's position as the leading choice for OEMs seeking to optimise energy efficiency, reduce system costs, and meet evolving regulatory requirements.”

He added: “Coolvert delivers the performance and flexibility OEMs need. We understand that OEMs require flexibility when selecting the motor technology they wish to use, that's why Coolvert is compatible with a wide range of motor types used in both rotary and scroll compressors, with single-phase and three-phase options available.”

“One of the things that sets Coolvert apart is its ease of use. With minimal parameters to set and the ability to save and transfer settings using software. OEMs can significantly reduce installation and commissioning time. Coolvert simplifies system design by eliminating the need to use external components such as chokes to meet harmonic standards such as 618003-12.

“This not only saves space and reduces costs but also makes installation much easier. We've engineered Coolvert to deliver exceptional EMC performance.”

“With C2 compliance as standard and C1 achievable with an external filter. Coolvert ensures reliable operation in a wide range of ambient temperatures of between -20c up to 60c.”

Seamless integration with existing control systems is crucial. Coolvert offers Modbus RTU communication to allow it to seamlessly communicate with all application controllers.

Safety and compliance are paramount in the HVAC-R industry. Coolvert has undergone rigorous testing and is fully approved for use with A2L and A3 refrigerants, meeting the latest safety standards and regulations.
