Invertek Drives Ltd has published its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report for 2024, highlighting the company's commitment to sustainable business practices and environmental performance.

The comprehensive report offers a transparent overview of Invertek's key environmental initiatives, social contributions, and economic responsibility for 2024, showcasing the company's ongoing commitment to its "drive for a cooler planet."

Adrian Ellam, CEO at Invertek Drives, said: "Our 2024 CSR Report reflects our dedication to sustainable development and responsible business practices. We are proud of the progress we've made, particularly with our renewable energy generation, while also recognising areas where we can continue to improve.

"The substantial increase in our solar energy generation demonstrates our commitment to reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and decreasing our carbon footprint. This, combined with our zero-to-landfill policy and biodiversity initiatives, shows that environmental responsibility is embedded in our operations.

"As we continue to grow as a business, we remain focused on ensuring this growth is sustainable and benefits both our local community and the global environment. The CSR report not only highlights our achievements but also sets out our ambitions for the future."

The report also underpins Sumitomo Heavy Industries' overarching purpose to "Enhance society and those within it with compassion through our ownership and vision."

Environmental Achievements
A significant highlight of the report is the 12,000 per cent increase in self-generated solar electricity compared to the 2020 baseline, following the installation of substantial solar panel arrays at Invertek's UK headquarters in Welshpool.

Despite business expansion requiring increased energy consumption, the company has made notable reductions in carbon emissions, with Scope 1 emissions decreasing by one per cent and Scope 2 by 20 per cent compared to 2020. The company continues to maintain its zero-to-landfill waste policy, with all waste being recycled or recovered through robust management systems.

Biodiversity and Social Responsibility
In 2024, Invertek enhanced local biodiversity at its Welsh site by introducing 529 native UK plants across 42 different species and installing bird and bat boxes. This builds upon previous initiatives, including tree planting, hedgerow development, and wildflower cultivation.

As a major employer in Welshpool, Invertek contributed approximately £20 million directly to the local economy through procurement and payroll in 2024. The company's active charity committee organised numerous events supporting local and national causes, while continuing to sponsor local sports clubs and participate in careers events at nearby schools.

Economic Growth
The report highlights Invertek's consistent profitability and significant workforce growth, expanding from 225 employees in 2020 to 357 in 2024. Future investment plans include the development of a dedicated Innovation Centre.

Invertek's CSR efforts align with ISO 26000 standards and are guided by the Sumitomo Spirit, reinforcing the company's commitment to being respected and trusted by communities worldwide.
