Invertek Drives Ltd, a global leader in electric motor control technology, is set to showcase its groundbreaking Optidrive Elevator Core variable frequency drive (VFD) at The Elevator Show in Dubai from September 16-18, 2024 (Hall 6, Stand 1021).
The innovative VFD designed exclusively for the elevator industry features USB-C connectivity, allowing it to be powered up in the box with a mobile phone. It also includes a universal encoder module and an internal EMC filter. Additionally, it now complies with ASME A17.1-2022, the safety code widely used for elevators and escalators in North America.
Compliance with ASME A17.1-2022 ensures that Optidrive Elevator Core meets the most stringent safety requirements for elevators and escalators. This includes enhanced provisions for fire safety, emergency operations, and accessibility, providing peace of mind for building owners, installers, and passengers alike.
Elevator Core comes in three compact sizes, up to 30HP and 22kW, 200-240V and 380-480 (1 Phase and Three Phase).
Justin Walker, Elevator Product Manager at Invertek Drives, highlighted the drive's user-centric design: "Every aspect of this drive, from its physical layout to the user interface, has been meticulously designed with elevator professionals in mind.
"The drive can be powered up and configured using just a mobile phone and a standard USB-C cable, which revolutionises setup and diagnostics. The USB-C connection also allows access to a customisable flight recorder, enabling seamless sharing of drive and motor data for analysis and troubleshooting."
Invertek Drives dedicated elevator team will be available on the stand at the show in the Dubai World Trade Centre.
Elevator Core is a major advancement in elevator motor control technology. Its small size and powerful functionality set a new industry standard. Developed in close collaboration with elevator manufacturers, installers, and engineers, the VFD simplifies installation, configuration, and commissioning, streamlining the entire process.
Key Features
- USB-C Connectivity: Configure and power up the drive directly from a mobile phone or tablet, eliminating the need for mains power during setup. Rapidly share data and analytics to support teams.
- Universal Encoder Module: A single module accommodates all encoders, future-proofing the drive for upcoming encoder releases. Digital-only encoder technology reduces motor noise and torque ripple.
- 10KHz Full Current Operation at 50°C: Silent motor operation, particularly during installation. Compact drive size with a smaller frame for higher output. No de-rating is required, ensuring optimal performance.
- Internal EMC Filter: Eliminates the need for an external filter, saving space and simplifying installation.
Justin emphasised the comprehensive support ecosystem: "The drive's QR code links to CORE ASSIST, a suite of support tools designed to assist users at every stage, from installation to maintenance. CORE ASSIST includes documentation, application guides, videos, and a trip code troubleshooter, with more features on the horizon."
