Invertek Drives is proud of its and its employees work raising money for local and national charities.
A team from the Wales Air Ambulance recently visited our global HQ in Welshpool, UK, to present their work to employees and to inform them about their vital work and fundraising efforts.
Over the past 10 years, Invertek and our team have raised an astonishing £70,000 for the Wales Air Ambulance charity. This amount is in addition to many others, such as Macmillan Cancer Support, and Hope House.
Below is a media release that the air ambulance charity has issued.
Electronics company raises over £70,000 for lifesaving charity
An electronics company with its global headquarters and manufacturing plant in Mid Wales has raised over £70,000 for the Wales Air Ambulance Charity over eleven years.
Invertek Drives was ranked 36th among the top 100 manufacturers in Wales in 2024 and named Wales Manufacturer of the Year in 2023. It first supported the Charity’s lifesaving service in 2013.
Earlier this year, Marketing Executive Bryony Morris was appointed Chairperson of the company’s Charity Committee.
She said: “The Wales Air Ambulance is incredibly important to the people of Welshpool, and we are hugely proud to have supported the charity for eleven years.
“Our team felt very emotional when we were told that the money we had donated will have helped save countless lives over the years.”
The Wales Air Ambulance is consultant-led, taking hospital-standard treatments to the patient and if required, transferring them directly to the most appropriate hospital for their illness or injury.
It is delivered via a unique Third Sector and Public Sector partnership. The Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS) supplies highly skilled NHS consultants and critical care practitioners who work on board the Charity’s vehicles.
As a pan-Wales service, its dedicated crews, regardless of where they are based, will travel the length and breadth of the country to deliver emergency lifesaving care.
In November 2024, the Invertek Drives Charity Committee invited representatives from the air ambulance to its Welshpool HQ to provide a drop-in clinic for staff who wanted to learn more about the lifesaving service.
Bryony said: “We like to support charities that have helped our colleagues when they have needed them most.
“Since the launch of our committee in July, we have organised three fundraisers, one in aid of Hope House, an event for Macmillan, and now the air ambulance.”
She added: “Having a larger team to foster new ideas and bring different charities to the table has made such a huge difference.”
Invertek Drives employs around 450 people and was established in Welshpool in 1997. It has grown a sales network covering around eighty countries.
A world leader in variable frequency drive (VFD) technology, the American market is now the company's largest sales area. The drives are used to accurately control electric motors in applications ranging from material handling, pumping, ventilation, refrigeration, and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems.
Innovation Engineer Gareth Owens is also Vice-Chair of the Charity Committee. He said: “As one of the area’s largest employers, it is important for us to connect with local charities.
“It was amazing to learn during the drop-in clinics that money raised by our company will have helped towards covering the cost of missions, buying helmets for clinicians or paying for aftercare counselling sessions for patients.”
He continued: “The creation of our committee has enabled us to encourage more people to get involved this year, which has resulted in us raising even more money.
“We know that the charities we have worked with are hugely grateful and we are looking forward to doing even more events next year.”
Invertek Drives plans to hold a coffee and cake morning in aid of the Wales Air Ambulance this March, to mark the Charity’s 24th birthday and St David’s Day.
Bryony said: “Invertek is proud to be a Welsh company, and we are looking forward to organising a joint celebration in March.
“With the air ambulance’s birthday and St David’s Day both falling on the first day of the month, we are going to put on a coffee and cake day.
Wales Air Ambulance needs to raise £11.2 million every year to keep its helicopters in the air and rapid response vehicles on the road.
Kate Thomas, the Charity’s Regional Fundraising Manager for Powys, said: “Invertek has been an incredible supporter of the Wales Air Ambulance, raising just over £70,000 since 2013.
“There is no doubt that their continuous generosity has helped save lives and supported patients requiring counselling with our patient liaison nurses.
“We are grateful for the warm welcome our team was shown during our drop-in clinic at the Welshpool headquarters, and we are looking forward to joining the team for their coffee and cake event in March.
“Our charity relies on the kindness of fundraisers like Invertek Drives. Without them, we could not continue to do what we do.
“Ongoing support like this will ensure that we can be there for the people of Powys, now and always.”
